Boston Rope group is a monthly free form rope gathering for those interested in Shibari, Kinbaku, tying damsels in distress or any other from of kinky play that involves rope.
If you said yes to any of these and you live in Boston or often visit the Boston area, this is a group for you.
Alternating between being 3rd Tuesday and 3rd Thursday of the month.
Goal of the meeting is to get together and discuss and share rope knowledge and opportunity to practice in a great environment.
We don’t usually have a set agenda for the evening, the focus is more of the un-conference format. The idea is anyone at the session who wants to learn something, or someone that wants to teach something they just learned will speak up and we go from there. It is also a great place to just talk about different ties seen on line etc, and work together to figure them out and discuss.
Any skill level is welcome to this event! If you want to learn to tie, or be tied, or both!! Goal here is peer to peer sharing of rope skills.
There is a fee for this to help cover the space of $10 a person. This is well worth it given what the space gives to us for learning, as well as support a location that is quickly becoming an important part of the kink community.
Boston Rope is primarily run via the best kink oriented social networking site FetLife.com, It is where this group started, and where we organize each session.. What do you need to do to come to a session? Sign up for Fetlife.com and join the Boston Rope Group join the Boston Rope Group!!
What is Kinbaku , Shibari , Hojōjutsu
From Wikipedia
Kinbaku (緊縛?) is the word for “erotic bondage” or Kinbaku-bi (緊縛美?) which literally means “the beauty of tight bondage”. Kinbaku (also Sokubaku) is a Japanese style of sexual bondage or BDSM which involves tying up the bottom using simple yet visually intricate patterns, usually with several pieces of thin rope usually hemp or jute (generally 6 mm or 8 mm in diameter).
The word Shibari came into common use in the West at some point in the 1990s to describe the bondage art Kinbaku. Shibari (縛り?) is a Japanese word that literally means “to tie” or “to bind”. It is used in Japan to describe the artful use of twine to tie objects or packages.
Hojōjutsu (捕縄術) or Nawajutsu, (縄術) is the traditional Japanese martial art of restraining a person using cord or rope. Encompassing many different materials, techniques and methods from many different schools, Hojojutsu is a quintessentially Japanese art that is a unique product of Japanese history and culture.
As a martial arts practice, Hojojutsu is seldom if ever taught on its own but as part of a curriculum under the aegis of the body of study encompassed by a larger school of bugei or budō (traditional martial arts), often as an advanced study in jujutsu. Whatever their source, Hojojutsu techniques & methods are seldom demonstrated outside of Japan and, unlike its cousin Shibari (Japanese erotic bondage), there are many who consider it a moribund art.
Fetlife.com is the best BDSM community / social networking site there is. It has been specifically engineered so that it is hard to use as a pick up / meat market / Dating site. What it has added to the kink community is truly amazing and has allowed that community to grow.
if you not already on there.. get going!
